Abstract
1,066,598. Transverse-flow fans. K. ZENKNER. May 1, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No.18279/64. Heading F1C. In a transverse-flow fan in which the position of the vortex is stabilized by a tongue 27, Fig. 5, separating the inlet from the outlet, the angle # subtended by the sides 6, 13 of the tongue lies within the range 20‹-60‹, and the angle α between the diameter 26 tangential to the leading end 10 of a flow guide wall 5 and the diameter 11 of symmetry of the flow when the flow is not throttled lies within the range 20‹-40‹. The diameter 11 also passes through the point 29 at which the angle # is subtended and through the point 25 of inflexion at which the outwardly flared leading end 10 joins the main part of the wall 5. The outwardly flared inlet ends (16), Fig. 6 (not shown), of the two side walls (17) of the fan casing are aligned with the side plates (18) of the rotor to prevent flow separation.
