Abstract
1,055,257. Electric incandescent lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 22, 1963 [Oct. 22, 1962], No. 41661/63. Heading H1F. An electric lamp comprises an inner tubular gas-filled envelope 2 enclosing a longitudinal filament 6, an outer tubular envelope 1 sealed to the inner envelope and a reflector 8 extending longitudinally in the space between the envelopes. The reflector may be of gold, silver, copper, nickel or molybdenum or may consist of a glass base having a vapour deposited coating of silver or aluminium. The inner and outer tubes may be concentric or may be eccentric and fused along the line where they touch one another. The ends are closed by pinch seals 3 through which lead-in conductors 4 having thin foil portions 5 pass. Alternatively, one or other envelope may be shorter, the longer envelope only being closed by pinch seals. Supports 7 for the filament in the form of wire spirals or metal wafers may be provided.
