Abstract

1,046,727. Composite window frames. BOULTON & PAUL Ltd. June 13, 1963 [June 13, 1962], No. 23562/63. Heading E1J. In a composite wood and metal window frame in which there is fastened on the main wooden frame (not shown) a metal section frame with a cover strip 14 provided with an inwardly projecting supporting flange 16 equipped on the inside of the frame with a sealing holder 22, 24, to carry a seal between the main frame and sash and on the outside with fastening flanges 28, 30; the bottom horizontal frame part carries on the supporting flange a U-shaped upwardly facing channel 46 connected by one flange 44 to the supporting flange 16 while the other flange 48 is at a distance from the free end of the flange 16 and the web of the channel 46, on its lower side has at least one fastening flange 54 and the flange 44 carries a strip 50 parallel to and at a distance from the coverstrip 14. At the mitred corners and the metal frame, the channel 46 and the strip 50 are cut off transversely to the section at a distance from the mitre and the channels are sealed off at the end by a profiled, preferably plastic L-shaped block. Likewise, the fastening flanges disposed on the supporting flange of the uprights of the metal frame are cut transversely of the section in the region of the mitred joint. Bores or slots (not shown) in the bottom of channel 26 and bores (not shown) in flange 44 drain water into the gap 51.'
