Abstract
To limit the environmental impacts, increase operating safety and reduce the costs of manufacturing, maintenance and operation of facilities for sterilizing products for sanitary, medical or pharmaceutical use using ethylene oxide as the active agent, it is proposed to add to a rigid and sealed main enclosure (1) a device for treating the interior atmosphere of the main enclosure (1) comprising at least one suction and compression unit (7) and at least one membrane separator (5) capable of separating the oxygen molecules and the nitrogen molecules, the said device being configured so as to reintroduce only the nitrogen molecules into the main enclosure (1). Provision is also made for the means (3 and/or 14) for introducing ethylene oxide in gaseous form into the main enclosure (1) as well as the heating means (24) making it possible to bring the internal atmosphere of the main enclosure (1) at a temperature of at least 45°C. The invention also describes and claims a secondary enclosure (18) equipped with means (17) making it possible to vary its internal temperature, this secondary enclosure (18) being used to separate the ethylene oxide/water mixture from the nitrogen and to store this mixture in liquid or solid form between each cycle of filling and use of the main enclosure (1). The management of the interior atmosphere of the main enclosure proposed by the invention makes it possible in particular to reduce the rigidity constraints of this enclosure and to use olfactory tracers.
