Abstract

The present invention is an ankle orthosis which allows functional treatment of sprains of the lower tibio-fibular joint. It immobilizes the lower tibio-fibular joint by suppressing the dorsal flexion of the ankle but allowing plantar flexion. It includes two anterior valves: a tibial (2) and a pedal (1) connected by two joints (3) internal and external. The tibial valve is held by a strap around the calf (9) and the pedal valve by a strap around the foot (8).

Description

DescriptionDescription

Cependant quel que soit le traumatisme (inversion ou éversion du pied) il peut également mettre en tension et léser le LTFI.Title of the invention: Ankle orthosis for sprain of the lower TibioFibular [0001] Anatomical reminder: The lower tibio-fibular ligament (LTFI) unites the distal part of the tibia and the fibula [0002] [fig.l] [0003 ] It can be affected in ankle sprains especially during movements of external rotation of the foot +/- dorsal flexion. However whatever the trauma (inversion or eversion of the foot) it can also put in tension and injure the LTFI.

Embankment shape: the talar dome is wider in front than in back. So the dorsal flexion of the foot (movement N ° 1 on the following drawing) tends to spread the tibia and the fibula (movement N ° 2 on the drawing) and therefore put in tension the lower fibular tibio ligament.

[0005] [fig.2][0005] [fig.2]

Objective of the orthosis [0006] Functional treatment allowing talo-crural mobility while preventing tensioning of the lower tibio fibular ligament (LTFI), while retaining support. There is therefore less post-immobilization stiffness, less loss of muscular trophicity and reduction in strict immobilization complications.

It must therefore be 1 place prevent dorsiflexion while leaving free plantarflexion. Active plantar flexion is retained, which allows walking to keep the work of the sural triceps. The vascular massage by active muscular work is therefore preserved. It is also necessary to avoid the varus and the valgus to avoid the stresses of the slope on the tibia and the fibula which could put in tension the ligament.

Two anterior valves: one on the back of the foot or a pedestrian anterior support valve ( 1) and the other anterior leg or a tibial anterior support valve (2), with 2 small joints (3) internal and external to allow plantar flexion.

The anterior contact between the 2 valves prevents dorsal flexion (4).

The pedal valve descends on each side just before resting on the ground (5) to limit varus and valgus => interest in LTFI but also in the event of injury to the External Collateral Ligament and / or Associated Internal Collateral Ligament.

The leg or tibial valve rises high enough and is sufficiently encompassing (6) for good support.

Finishes [fig.4] [0016] [fig.5] [0017] The anterior valves are reinforced at the point of contact opposite the talo crurale for greater strength (7), [...] The edges of the valves blunt not to hurt the skin.

Presence of an upper bulge of the two valves (7) for more solidity facing the anterior part of the ankle at their point of contact and a lower depression so as not to pinch the skin when the foot is in neutral bending.

The support straps under the foot are not very thick so as not to modify the supports too much (8). It stops before the metatarsophalangeal to let their mobility free.

The leg valve holding strap is long enough for good support (9). It can be fixed by scratch or lacing (10). Possibility of 2 straps: a high and a low to adapt to the morphology of the calf.

The internal face of the valves is covered with a fine foam to allow better comfort and adaptation to the different shapes of legs and feet.

Indications LTFI lesion without fibular-tibial diastasis on the radio. Partial injury.

[0025] Lésion du ligament latéral interne et/ou externe avec doute sur une atteinte du ligament tibio-fibulaire inférieur.[0025] Lesion of the internal and / or external lateral ligament with doubt on damage to the lower tibio-fibular ligament.

Support recovery after plaster immobilization of sprains of the lower tibio-fibular.

[0027] Contre-indications à l'immobilisation stricte.Contraindications to strict immobilization.

[0028] Prototype [fig.6] [0029] [fig.7] [0030] [fig.8] [0031] [fig.9] [0032] Prototype pied à 0° de flexion dorsale [fig. 10] [0033] pied en flexion plantaire [fig. 11]Prototype [fig.6] [0029] [fig.7] [0030] [fig.8] [0031] [fig.9] [0032] Foot prototype at 0 ° dorsal flexion [fig. 10] foot in plantar flexion [fig. 11]
