Abstract

The butter dish has a one-piece base, shaped to incorporate a holder for a butter knife along one side. The holder is in the form of a trough-section extension on the base, and can be located inside or outside the butter dish cover. In a variant of the design the knife holder can be in the form of two lugs, with one acting as a knife scraper.
