Abstract

A cleaning procedure for removing grease and oil from articles soiled with organic materials comprising using circulating cleaning fluid at least part of which is sterilized to limit living micro-organisms, is new. A cleaning procedure for removing grease and oil from articles soiled with organic materials comprises using a cleaning fluid of which at least part is circulated between a washing unit (1) in which it picks up organic materials from the articles being cleaned, and a treatment unit in which living micro-organisms biologically degrade the organic materials contained in the fluid. At least part of the fluid circulating in the cleaning installation is subjected to at least partial sterilization to limit or suppress the living micro-organisms present in the fluid. The Sterilizing system uses heat and/or radiation and/or UV rays and/or chemicals with a bactericidal and/or bacteriostatic action in a unit with at least one treatment chamber (2A) filled with a filtering material (2) which holds the living micro-organisms and contains nutrients for them that are preferably insoluble or only slightly soluble in the cleaning fluid. The first treatment chamber (2A) is linked to a second one (2B) which recuperates and stores the fluid from the first chamber and has a circuit to recirculate it back to the first chamber with a fluid recirculation circuit as well as a Sterilizing unit (12).
