Abstract

The drain, esp. for collecting rainwater and discharging it into an underground main (18), consists of a chamber (2), basically parallelepiped in shape, with the width of its end walls smaller than the length of its side walls or its height. The end walls are sufficiently wide to accommodate a standard inverted U-bend of about 200 mm dia. The U-bend (12) is fitted into the chamber through an aperture in its end wall contg. a sleeve (14) which is linked to the main (18). The chamber is open at the top, with a rim shaped to receive a drain grid, and it can be made in one piece from glass fibre-reinforced polyester with a gel-coat on its inner surfaces. ADVANTAGE - Chamber is completely watertight, and is easy and quick to clean.

Description

 The invention is in the field of water evacuation, and it relates to a sewer mouth device, comprising siphoning means, in particular intended for the evacuation of rainwater in an urban network.

 Sewer outlets are known, in particular intended for collecting and discharging rainwater towards a pipe of an urban network. These manholes include a containment capacity and a siphon device interposed between the capacity and the pipe.

 The capacity and the siphon are generally made by masonry.

 A drawback of these manholes lies in cracks which defuse the siphon, which no longer fulfills its role of separation between the mouth and the sewer, and therefore, its role of preventing the passage of odors.

 Another disadvantage of these manholes is the difficulty of cleaning and maintaining them, due to the fact that the siphon is built.

 The main object of the invention is to provide a manhole whose capacity is perfectly sealed.

 Another object of the invention is to provide a manhole whose maintenance, and more particularly cleaning, is quick and easy.

 According to the invention, a device, of the "sewer manhole" type, of the aforementioned kind is mainly characterized in that the capacity consists of a substantially rectangular sealed tank whose end faces have a width I, corresponding to the width of the tank, less than any of the other dimensions of the tank, in particular the length L and the height H thereof.

 Preferably, said width 1 is sufficient to accommodate an elbow of a "standard" diameter close to 200 millimeters, one of the end faces of the tank having a circular orifice allowing the passage of said elbow.

 According to one embodiment, the elbow is connected to the tank by means of a sleeve, said sleeve penetrating into the tank through said orifice by one of its ends, called the first, the other of its ends, said second, being connected to the pipeline. Said first end of the sleeve comprises a collar intended to receive the corresponding end of the elbow.

 The seal between the sleeve and the tank is advantageously ensured by means of a lip seal, the seal between the sleeve and the elbow is preferably provided by an O-ring enclosing the elbow and accommodating in a groove formed in the sleeve. I1 results from these provisions that the removal of the elbow is made easy for cleaning the tank.

 The tank is favorably open over the whole of its upper face, and is provided with rims folded outwards so as to form a seat coping of a sewer grate.

 Optionally, an extension formwork can be constructed around the rim in order to provide a space whose dimensions are adapted to those of the grid.

 According to one embodiment, the tank is in one piece and consists of polyester reinforced with glass fiber, the interior surfaces of the tank being coated with a protective "Gel Coat".

 In FIG. 1, a one-piece tank 2 made of polyester reinforced with fiberglass is intended to form the capacity of a siphon drain.

 This sealed tank 2 is of substantially parallelepiped shape slightly frustoconical. The end faces 4 and 6 of the tank 2 have a width 1, corresponding to the width of the tank 2, less than the height H and the length L of the tank.

 The width 1 of the tank 2 is sufficient to accommodate an elbow with a standard diameter of 200 millimeters. One 4 of the end faces of the tank 2 has a circular orifice 8 for the passage of the elbow.

 The tank 2 is open over its entire upper face, and has edges, such as 10, folded outwards so as to form a seat coping intended to support a sewer grate.

 In FIGS. 2 and 3, the elbow 12 is fitted at one end of a sleeve 14, which has a flange 16 intended to receive the elbow, the sleeve is itself threaded inside the orifice of the tank, the other of its ends being connected to a pipe 18 of the network.

 The seal between the sleeve 14 and the tank 2 is obtained by means of a lip seal, while the seal between the sleeve 14 and the elbow 12 is obtained by means of an O-ring enclosing the elbow 12 and housing in a groove in the sleeve 14.

 The grid 20 rests on a raising formwork 22 built around the flanges 10.

This formwork 22 can be produced so that its dimensions correspond to those of the grid 20.

 Although a preferred embodiment has been described and shown, it should be understood that the scope of the present invention is not limited to this form but that it extends to any device comprising the characteristics set out above. .

Claims (1)

1.- Device, of the manhole type ", in particular intended  the evacuation of rainwater to a pipe  (18) of an urban network, such as those comprising  a water holding capacity and a device  siphon interposed between said capacity and the  pipeline, characterized  in that capacity is  consisting of a substantially parallel sealed tank (2)  lepipedic whose end faces (4) and (6)  have a width 1, corresponding to the width of the  tank (2), lower than any of the others  dimensions of the tank (2), in particular the length  L and the height H thereof 2.- Device according to claim 1 characterized:  in that said width 1  is sufficient to accommodate an elbow (12) with a diameter  "standard" close to 200 millimeters, one (4) of  tank end faces (2) having an orifice  (8) circular allowing the passage of said elbow (12) 3.- Device according to claim 2 characterized:  in that the elbow (12) is  connected to the tank (2) via a sleeve  (14), said sleeve (14) penetrating into the tank (2)  through said orifice (8) by one of its  ends, said first, the other of its ends,  said second, being connected to the pipe (18),  and  in that said first  end of the sleeve (14) has a flange (16)  intended to receive the corresponding end of the elbow  (12) 4.- Device according to claim 3 characterized::  in that the seal between  the sleeve (14) and the tank (2) is provided by means  a lip seal, and  in that the seal between  the sleeve (14) and the elbow (12) is provided by a  O-ring enclosing the elbow (12) and accommodating in  a groove in the sleeve (14) 5.- Device according to claim 1 characterized:  in that the tank (2) is  open on the whole of its upper face, and  in that the tank (2) is  provided with flanges (10) folded outwards from  so as to form a seat coping of a grid  sewer (20) 6.- Device according to claim 1 characterized  in that the tank (2) is  monobloc and is made of polyester reinforced with fiber  7.
