Abstract

The present invention relates to a cardboard box intended for containing various consumable products such as fruit, vegetables, various packets, etc. It comprises a base (1) and a surround (2), the base (1) forming the bottom of the said box and the surround (2) forming its walls, the base (1) being constituted by a rectangular tray (3) of which two opposite sides (6 and 7) are extended by wings (8) which are folded along folding lines (6, 7, 9) parallel with the said sides (6 and 7) in order to form two beams (4 and 5) respectively extending along the said sides (6 and 7) of the tray (3) and constituting supports for the said tray (3) and, rising vertically from the other two opposite sides (14 and 15) of the tray (3), flaps (16), obtained by folding at 90 DEG , panels respectively extending along the said sides (14 and 15), the surround (2) standing on the tray (3) leaving the flaps (16) outside its walls.

Description

 The present invention relates to a cardboard box obtained from flat blanks, said box being intended to contain goods which must, for example, be delivered to stores or supermarkets.

 Such boxes generally consist of a substantially rectangular bottom from which rise four sections assembled together by gluing, stapling, etc., and forming a rectangular parallelepiped.

 A cardboard plate, such as a boot pan, does not require significant effort to be folded, but if it is provided with an edge obtained by folding, it becomes very resistant to deformation in a direction orthogonal to this edge .

 It is in application of this principle that, to ensure resistance to deformations due to lateral thrusts of the goods contained in the boot, there are generally provided, on the one hand, at the upper part of each pan, flaps at 900 forming horizontal edges and, on the other hand, truncated angles obtained by vertical folding of the sides and forming vertical edges.

 These cardboard boxes must be able to be stackable and, to do this, wooden candles are generally provided which double the truncated angles and whose upper ends receive the upper box. These candles therefore provide the vertical strength required for stacking.

 In reality, the cardboard boxes are not stacked directly on top of each other as this would pose problems for their handling. The bottoms should be sufficiently resistant to the load and the boxes should have gripping means. It is for this reason that, under each bundle, wooden pallets or pads in PVC injection are provided at the time of stacking, which a pallet truck can then handle during unloading.

 This situation has many drawbacks, however. Once the boxes have been unloaded and the goods unloaded from them, the boxes are generally destroyed either by compacting, shredding, or both. On the other hand, it is difficult, when it comes to pallets, to get rid of them.

 In addition, the pallets increase the cost of transporting the goods carried out with such boots.

 The invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and proposes a cardboard boot which is of the type described above and which does not require, for its handling, the support of a pallet. The boxes according to the invention are therefore stackable directly.

 To do this, a box according to the invention comprises a base and a belt, the base forming the bottom of said box and the belt its walls, the base consisting of a rectangular plate whose two opposite sides are extended by wings which are folded along fold lines parallel to said sides to form two beams respectively along said sides of the plate and constituting supports for said plate, and, rising vertically from the two other opposite sides of the plate, flaps obtained by folding at 900 of panels running along said sides, the belt coming to rest on the tray by fitting into said flaps.

 The box thus formed can be directly lifted by the fingers of a pallet truck, without the need for wooden pallets. The folds that form the beams also prevent the base plate from being able to be folded in a direction perpendicular to these folds. The flaps create folds perpendicular to the folds of the beams and prevent the plate from being folded in a direction perpendicular to the direction of these folds. The plate which constitutes the bottom of the boot can then support significant loads.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, the belt consists of four main walls which form between them a rectangular parallelepiped and, between the main walls, chamfered walls, the flaps of said base comprising, above each of the beams , wings which follow the design of said chamfered walls, candles passing through slots in the corners of the plate and passing through said beams along said chamfer walls on which they are hung.

 The box can then be stacked on another of the same type.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, a sole is fixed under each beam to receive, on its upper face, the lower ends of the candles on the corresponding side, and, on its lower face, the upper ends of the candles which belong to another similar box under it.

 This characteristic makes it possible to obtain a better seating of the candles when the boxes are stacked.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each candle is secured to the chamfered wall of the belt outside of it, each light of the tray being inside the isosceles right triangle at the corner of the tray and whose the hypotenuse is bordered by the corresponding wing of the base flap.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each wing of the base flaps is provided with a rectangular and vertical tongue formed by a rectangular cut in said wing with the exception of a length of the rectangle which is a fold line, said fold line being vertical and facing the outer side of said wing.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, the upper edge of each wall of the belt is constituted by a flap 900 folded back on itself along a fold line which forms the front edge of the flap.

 This characteristic ensures a better solidity of the belt which cannot "swell" under the effect of the thrust of the goods contained in the box.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each of the two panels which constitute the flap of the chamfered walls is provided with an isosceles trapezoidal cutout, the large base of which is centered on the fold line between said two panels, each cutout of the same flap being symmetrical to one another with respect to their large bases, each side being inclined at 450 and is perpendicular to a straight line which joins the vertex which is at the intersection of this side and of the small base and the corner on the same side of the panel, the length of this segment being substantially equal to the width of the flaps of the adjacent main walls.

 This characteristic makes it possible to further improve the solidity of the belt and to avoid its deformation under the effect of the thrusts of the goods.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each main wall of the belt has a lower flap.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each candle is secured to the corresponding chamfered wall by means of a horizontal lug pierced with a light of the same section as said candle, each lug being obtained by a cutout and a fold line which connects the ends of said cut.

 According to another characteristic of the invention, each chamfered wall is provided with two vertical rectangular tabs each formed by a rectangular cut except for a length which is a fold line, each fold line being turned to one side different from the chamfered wall.

The characteristics of the invention mentioned above, as well as others, will appear more clearly on reading the following description of an exemplary embodiment, said description being made in relation to the accompanying drawings, among which:

 The box shown in FIG. 1 comprises a base 1 and a belt 2 which is provided to rest on the base 1. The belt 2 forms the walls of the boot and the base 1 its bottom.

 The description of the base 1 is made in relation to FIG. 1 when the latter is mounted and in relation to FIG. 2 with regard to its draft. In Fig. 2, the dotted lines represent fold lines while the strong lines represent cut lines.

 The base 1 is made up of a rectangular plate 3 resting on two beams 4 and 5 of square section along respectively the short sides 6 and 7 of the plate 3. Each beam 4, 5 is formed in wings 8 which extend, on each side of its short sides 6 and 7, the plate 3 and by folding 900 of these along four fold lines, one of which constitutes the short side 6 or 7 of the plate 3 and the other three 9 are parallel to it. Two consecutive lines of the same wing delimit elongated rectangular sections each forming a face of the corresponding beam. During assembly, the outer panel 10 of each wing 8 returns against the underside of the plate 3. Tabs li on the outer edge of the outer panel 10 of each wing 8 are provided to penetrate into corresponding slots 12.

The assembly maintains the beams 4 and 5 in place during assembly.

 Under each beam 4, 5, a wooden base 13 has been provided which covers the underside of this beam 4, 5.

 Fig. 3 shows in section the plate 3 of the base 1 and the beams 4 and 5 with their upper face 10 folded under the plate 3.

 Raising vertically from the long sides 14 and 15 of the plate 3, there are provided flaps 16 comprising, above each of the beams 4, 5, wings 17 which make an angle of 450 with respect to the length of the beams 4 and 5. On the blank, each flap 16 is formed from a panel running along the long side 14 or 15 of the plate 3 and separated from it by a fold line. Each wing 17 is obtained by a cut 18 along the side 14 or 15 which starts from the end of the flap 17 and which stops on the long side of the plate 3 at a distance from its corner 19 equal to the side of the beams 4 and 5. From there, a fold line 20 starts perpendicularly. Each wing 17 has a length equal to the length of the hypotenuse of the isosceles right triangle above the beams 4 and 5 and at the corner 19 of the plate 3.

 At each corner 19 just behind the wings 17 of the flaps 16, are formed lights 21 of rectangular shape. Lights 22 in the two horizontal faces of each of the beams 4 and 5 are also drilled so that once the base 1 mounted, they correspond with the lights 21 of the plate 3. Each of them is located inside the isosceles right triangle at the corner 19 of the plate 3 which is based on the cutout 18 and its length centered on the hypotenuse of this triangle.

 Candles 23 of wood of the same rectangular section as the lights 21 and 22 are provided to pass through them in each corner 19.

 Each wing 17 of the flaps 16 is provided with a rectangular and vertical tongue 24 which forms a stop for the corresponding candle 23. Each tab 24 is formed by a rectangular cut 25 with the exception of a length which is a fold line 26. Each fold line 26 is turned towards the external side of the corresponding wing 17.

The description of the belt 2 is made in relation to the
Fig. 1 when the latter is mounted and in relation to FIG. 4 with regard to its draft. In Fig. 4, the dotted lines represent fold lines and the solid lines the cut lines.

 The belt 2 consists of four main walls: two side walls 27, a front wall 28 and a rear wall 29. These main walls 27, 28 and 29 form between them a rectangular parallelepiped. At each vertical edge of this parallelepiped, there are provided walls 30 in chamfer at 450.

 Note that the blank in Fig. 4, constitutes only half of the belt 2, a front wall 28 or rear 29, a side wall 27 and two chamfered walls 30. For the mounting of the belt 2, each blank comprises, along one of its lateral edges, an edge 31 which, when mounted, overlaps the chamfer wall 30 of another blank. The edges 31 are, for example, stapled on this wall 30. It will be noted that the belt 2 can also be produced in a single blank.

 The main walls 27, 28 or 29 and the chamfered walls 30 are obtained by folding along fold lines 32 of each blank.

 The upper edge of each wall of the belt 2 is constituted by a flap 33 to 900 folded back on itself along a fold line 34 which forms the front edge of the flap 33. FIG. 3 shows the folding of the flaps 33 of the side walls 27 of the belt 2 as well as the corresponding front stop 34. Each flap 33 is formed of a first panel 35 adjacent to the corresponding wall and separated from it by a fold line 36 and of a second panel 37 adjacent to the first and separated from it by the fold line 34. The latter corresponds to the fold line of the flap 33. Cut-outs 38 in extension of the fold lines 32 between the walls are provided to delimit the flaps 33 laterally. The outer edges 39 of the flaps 33 of the main walls include two tabs 40 which, when mounted , are introduced into slots 41 which correspond to them.

 Each of the panels 35 and 37 of the flaps of the chamfered walls 30 is provided with a cutout 42 in the form of an isosceles trapezium, the large base of which is centered on the fold line 34. The two cutouts 42 of the same flap 33 are symmetrical from each other with respect to line 34 and in fact form a hexagon cutout.

Each side is inclined at an angle a of 450 and is perpendicular to a line segment s which joins the vertex 43 at the intersection of this side and the small base and the corner 44 on the same side of the panel 35 or 37 In addition, the length of the segment s is substantially equal to the width of the flaps 33 of the main walls 27, 28 or 29.

 Thus, as shown in FIG. 5, when the belt 2 is mounted, each flap 33 of the walls 30 is folded back on itself and its two cutouts 42 overlap. The flaps 33 of the adjacent walls are folded back on themselves and enclose the flap 33 of the wall 30.

Each side of the cutout 42 is covered by the folding stop 34 of the flap 33 of the corresponding adjacent wall. Furthermore, the corner 45 of the flap 33 of a main wall 27, 28 or 29 is superimposed, apart from the clearance and the thickness of the cardboard, at the top 43 of the cutout 42.

 On the blank of FIG. 4, the side wall 27 and the front wall 28 or rear wall 29 have lower flaps 46 respectively formed by a rectangular panel and by a trapezoidal panel with a large external base. We see, Fig. 3, that the flaps 46 are provided to rest on the plate 3 of the base 1.

 Each chamfered wall 30 is provided with a horizontal lug 47 pierced with a rectangular light 48 intended to be crossed by the corresponding candle 23. Each ear 47 is obtained by a semi-circular cut 49 and a fold line 50. A large side of the light 48 is centered on the fold line 50.

 Each wall 30 is also provided with two rectangular and vertical tabs 51 and 52 which respectively form stops for the lateral faces of the corresponding candle 23. Each of these tabs 51 and 52 is formed by a rectangular cutout 54 with the exception of a length which is a fold line 55 vertical. The fold lines 55 of a tongue 51 and a tongue 52 are respectively turned towards different sides of the wall 30.

 The mounting of the boot begins with the mounting of the base 1 and that of the belt 2. Then, we come to rest the belt 2 on the plate 3 of the base 1, and this so that the flaps 16 of the base 1 are outside the belt 2. Finally, the candles 23 are passed through the ears 47 of the belt 2 and through the slots 21 and 22 formed in the plate 3 and the beams 4 and 5.

 When two boots are stacked, the upper ends of the candles 23 support the soles 13 of the beams 4 and 5. The soles 13 are made of wood to serve as support for the candles 23.

 The bottom of a boot can support significant loads because the plate 3 which constitutes it, on the one hand, rests on the beams 4 and 5 and, on the other hand1 has its four sides which are folded at 900, the short sides 6 and 7 to form the beams 4 and 5 and the long sides 14 and 15 to form the flaps 16. I1 can therefore not bend and deform.

 It will have been noted that the same principle has been applied for the belt 2. In fact, the four sides of each wall 27, 28, 29 are obtained by folding. The walls 27, 28, 29 cannot therefore fold and the boot "swell" under the effect of the thrust of the goods which it contains.

 The fact of providing the belt 2 with chamfered walls 30 also improves the resistance to "swelling" of the boot.

Claims (10)

PEVENDICATIONS  1) Cardboard box intended to contain various consumer products such as fruit, vegetables, various packages, etc., characterized in that it comprises a base (1) and a belt (2), the base (I) forming the bottom of said boot and the belt (2) its walls, the base (1) consisting of a rectangular plate (3) of which two opposite sides (6 and 7) are extended by wings (8) which are folded along fold lines (6, 7, 9) parallel to said sides (6 and 7) to form two beams (4 and 5) respectively skirting said sides (6 and 7) of the plate (3) and constituting supports to said plate ( 3), and, rising vertically from the two other opposite sides (14 and 15) of the plate (3), flaps (16) obtained by folding 900 panels along said sides (14 and 15) respectively, the belt (2) coming to rest on the plate (3) by fitting into said flaps (16).  2) Boot according to claim 1, characterized in that the belt (2) consists of four main walls (27, 28 and 29) which form between them a rectangular parallelepiped and, between said main walls, walls (30) in chamfer, the flaps (16) of said base (1) comprising, above each of the beams (4 and 5), wings (17) which follow the design of said walls (30) in chamfer, candles (23) passing through slots (21 and 22) in the corners (19) of the plate (3) and passing through said beams (4 and 5) along said walls (30) in a chamfer on which they are secured.  3) Box according to claim 2, characterized in that a sole (13) is fixed under each beam (4, 5) to receive, on its upper face, the lower ends of the candles (23) on the corresponding side, and, on its underside, the upper ends of the candles (23) which belong to another similar boot under it.  4) Box according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that each candle (23) is secured to the chamfered wall (30) corresponding to the belt (2) outside thereof, each light (21 and 22) of the plate (3) located inside the isosceles right triangle at the corner (19) of the plate (3) and the hypotenuse of which is bordered by the corresponding wing (17) of the flap (16) of the base (1).  5) Box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each wing (17) of the flaps (16) of the base (1) is provided with a rectangular and vertical tongue (24) formed by a rectangular cutout (25 ) in said wing (17) except for a length of the rectangle which is a fold line (26), said fold line (26) being vertical and turned towards the external side of said wing (17).  6) Boot according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the upper edge of each wall of the belt (2) is constituted by a flap (33) at 900 folded back on itself along a fold line (34) which forms the front edge of the flap (33).  7) Boot according to claim 6, characterized in that each of the two panels (35 and 37) which constitute the flap (33) of the chamfered walls (30) is provided with a cutout (42) in the form of an isosceles trapezium, the large base is centered on the fold line (34) between said two panels (35 and 37), each cutout (42) being symmetrical to each other with respect to the line (34), each side being inclined at 450 and is perpendicular to a straight line which joins the top (43) which is at the intersection of this side and the small base and the corner (44) on the same side of the panel (35 or 37), the length of said segment being substantially equal to the width of the flaps (33) of the adjacent main walls (27, 28 or 29).  8) Boot according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each main wall (27, 28, 29) of the belt (2) has a lower flap (46).  9) Boot according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each candle (23) is secured to the wall (30) in corresponding chamfer by means of a horizontal lug (47) pierced with a light (48) of same section as said candle (23), each ear (47) being obtained by means of a cutout (49) and a fold line (50) which connects the ends of said cutout (49).  10) Boot according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each chamfered wall (30) is provided with two rectangular and vertical tabs (51 and 52) each formed by a rectangular cutout (54) with the exception of one length which is a fold line (55), the fold lines (55) of the same wall (30) being respectively turned towards the opposite sides of the wall (30).
