Abstract

The invention relates to a tapped, self-piercing, self-tapping insert designed to be installed with the aid of a screwing device. The insert is characterised in that it comprises a tapping 8, a collar 2, a smooth part 3, a threaded part 4, a boring part 5 and a drilling part 6. The insert is designed to be installed in a single operation, with the aid of a screwdriving machine. The drilling part 6 centres the insert. The tapping 8 is extended into the boring part 5 to allow pieces of different thicknesses to be fixed. The insert is moulded from a zinc alloy or from plastic. The insert makes it possible to obtain tappings directly without boring pilot holes.
