The invention concerns a prosthetic foot structure comprising an inner sole 1 to which it is integral and on which there bears a frame 4 forming a spring, this frame itself supporting a leg prosthesis. According to the invention, the spring-forming frame 4 includes a part inclined in the direction of the front of the inner sole, its rear end 4c being raised relative to the inner sole and including a housing intended to receive the end of a rod 5 of the leg prosthesis, while the intermediate part 4b between the rear end and the front end of the frame has a lesser width in order to form a lever arm in relation to which the part 4c projects laterally with a view to permitting a possible lateral movement of the rod of the prosthesis relative to the structure of the prosthetic foot.

Description

Nouvelle structure de pied prothétipue.  New prosthetic foot structure.

The present invention relates to a new prosthetic foot structure, intended to serve as a seat for a leg prosthesis.

Such prosthetic feet must limit as much as possible the fatigue caused to the amputee during walking and various structures have already been proposed for this purpose, which assist the user by exerting a spring effect at each step. not performed with his prosthesis.

This type of structure is the subject of the present invention, and it aims to confer on them, in addition to an ability to longitudinal elastic bending, a possibility of lateral bending and a certain degree of freedom in rotation relative to the prosthesis. leg, in order to be able to possibly compensate for the unevenness of the floor and thus avoid false movements.

To this end, the invention relates to a new prosthetic foot structure comprising an internal sole of which it is integral and on which rests a frame forming a spring, this frame itself supporting a prosthetic leg, this structure being characterized in that the spring reinforcement comprises a part inclined towards the front part of the inner sole, its rear end being raised relative to the inner sole and comprising a housing intended to receive the end of a rod the leg prosthesis, while the intermediate part between the rear end and the front end of the frame has a narrower width to form a lever arm with respect to which the part comprising a housing extends laterally, in order to allow a possible lateral movement of the prosthesis stem relative to the structure of the prosthetic foot.

Advantageously, the portion of lesser width of the armature forming a lever arm will have lateral wings straightened vertically with respect to its central portion and connecting to the rear portion in which the housing for the end of the prosthesis stem is formed. leg.

The part forming the reinforcement may include a branch uric extending in the longitudinal direction of the inner sole and glued by its front end against this sole. The part of the frame glued against the internal frame and the part comprising the housing for the end of the rod of the heavy leg prosthesis will be connected directly by an inclined part. The housing of the end of the stem of the leg prosthesis may also be offset vertically relative to the rear end of this inclined part.

The part forming the reinforcement may also have, in vertical section through the median longitudinal plane of the inner sole, a section in C and be glued by the lower branch of the C against this sole.

Advantageously, both the insole and the spring-forming reinforcement will be made of a reinforced laminated resin, in particular of a thermosetting resin reinforced with carbon fibers, aramid or any other material allowing a spring effect, woven or braided, making it possible to easily make these bodies to the desired shape by means known in the art.

Preferably, a mass of an expanded plastic material forming a shock absorber will be interposed between the rear end of the inclined part of the frame forming a spring and the internal sole or an element applied against this internal sole.

- d'une part, une semelle interne 1, par exemple en composite de carbone, appliquée et collée sur la face supérieure de la semelle en élastomère 2 proprement dite du pied prothétique 3;
Reference will first be made to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 4, where the prosthetic structure according to the invention comprises:
- On the one hand, an inner sole 1, for example made of carbon composite, applied and bonded to the upper face of the elastomer sole 2 proper of the prosthetic foot 3;
- On the other hand, a frame 4 forming a spring, for example made of carbon composite, on which is supported and of which is secured the lower end of a tubular rod 5 of a leg prosthesis not shown.

The frame 4 has a section in C and its lower branch 4a is supported and is glued against the upper face of the sole 1. Its upper branch 4b, inclined towards the front part of the sole 5, comprises, at its end rear 4c, a cylindrical housing 6, in which the end of the rod 5 is engaged and glued. A screw 7, screwed into a transverse internal thread of the housing 6, makes it possible to temporarily block the rod 5 before bonding, and pins 8, arranged radially and engaged in transverse recesses in the housing of part 4c, lock it in position.

The width of the central part of the upper branch 4b of the frame is considerably smaller than that of its front end and that the corresponding transverse dimension of the part 4c in which the housing 6 is formed. It thus constitutes a real arm of lever, which works in vertical bending, under the stress of the rod 5 (arrows F1 of FIG. 3), and thus exerts a spring effect on this rod when it no longer stresses the armature.

The reduced section portion of the upper arm 4b of the armature comprises lateral wings 4d (FIG. 3) straightened vertically relative to its central portion and adjoining the rear portion 4c.

As can be seen in FIG. 4, this part 4c projects laterally with respect to the central portion of the upper branch 4d of the frame and it can thus, by a lateral flexion movement, compensate for the unevenness of the ground on which the base rests. prosthetic foot and thus prevent the user from any false movement whose consequences could be serious or painful.

A slight lateral twist of the lever arm 4b, with elastic return, also allows limited rotation of the rod 5.

A mass of expanded plastic material 9, interposed between the rear part 4c and the lower strip 4a of the frame 4 acts as a shock absorber. The base of the expanded material will be chosen according to the spring force of the frame 4 and according to the desired effect.

In the embodiment of Figure 5, the structure according to the invention also comprises an inner sole 11, applied and glued against the upper face of the elastomer sole 12 of the prosthetic foot 13. The frame 14 no longer has a vertical section in C, but comprises a front part 14a, applied and glued against the front part of the insole 11, an inclined intermediate part 14b and a rear part 14c which connects directly to the inclined part and supports the rod 15 of a leg prosthesis, the end of which is housed in a cylindrical recess 16 of the part 14c.

As in the embodiment described in connection with FIGS. 1 to 4, the central part 14b of the frame 14 has a considerably reduced width compared to the front part 14a and to the rear part 14c, which thus projects laterally, and it has side wings 14b straightened vertically (see Figure 7), adjoining the part 14c. The central part 14b thus acts as a lever arm and collapses when walking to exert a spring effect when the rear part 14c is no longer stressed by the rod 15. This spring effect is markedly more pronounced than in the case of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 4.

As in this one, on the other hand, the rear part 14c projects laterally with respect to the central part, which allows a slight lateral bending. As before, also, a lateral twist of the lever arm allows a slight rotation of the rod 5 if necessary.

Finally, as before, the insole 11 and the frame 14 can advantageously be made of a composite of carbon fibers and a mass 17 of expanded plastic material is interposed between the rear part 14c of the frame 14 and the insole 11 .

In the embodiment of Figures 9 to 12, there is an inner sole 21, applied and fixed on the upper face of an elastomer sole 22 of the prosthetic foot 23. The frame 24 has a general shape close to that of the previous embodiment and it also comprises a front part 24a applied and glued against the front part of the upper face of the inner sole 21, an inclined part 24b and a rear part 24c. However, this is extended vertically by a part 24d supporting a part 24e in which is formed a cylindrical recess 26, intended to receive a tubular rod 25 of a prosthesis. As previously, the parts 24b, 24c and 24d have a width that is largely reduced relative to the front part 24a and they have side wings vertically straightened, relative to their central portion, which connect directly to the part 24e. This extends laterally with respect to the parts 24b, 24c and 24d, which form a lever arm, and there is, as before, a spring effect of this lever arm, which assists the step of the user, a possibility of lateral flexion of the part 24e supporting the rod 25 of the leg prosthesis and a possibility of rotation of the latter. The elevation of the part 24e, which can, as shown, be arranged above the prosthetic foot, however allows a possibility of increased lateral flexion compared to the embodiment of FIGS. 5 to 8.

In this embodiment, also, a mass 27 of expanded plastic material forming a shock absorber is interposed between the parts 24c, 24d of the frame and the internal sole 21.

In all the variants which have been described above, it is important to perfectly adjust the position of the leg prosthesis relative to the prosthetic foot structure according to the invention. Figures 13, 14a and 14b, on the one hand, 15 and 16, on the other hand, illustrate such adjustment means.

In the embodiment of Figures 13, 14a and 14b, the rear part 34c, projecting laterally with respect to the part 34b forming the lever arm of the frame 34, has a recess 36 of oblong horizontal section, suitable for receiving the tubular rod 35 of the prosthesis and in which tube-shaped wedges 39, arranged on either side of the rod 35 (FIG. 14a) or on the same side of it (FIGS. 13 and 14b) allow laterally wedge the rod 35 in its housing 36 and perform a precise anteroposterior adjustment of this rod. The shims 39 and the rod 35 are glued to each other in their housing and are locked in provisional position by the screw 37, screwed into a transverse thread of the part 34c.

Figures 15 and 16 illustrate another possibility of adjustment, by the user myself, of the vertical position of the rod 45 of the leg prosthesis relative to the rear part 44c of the frame 44 of the structure conforming to the invention. In this embodiment, a part 50, of complementary shape to the internal recess of the rod 45, is pivotally mounted, in a housing 46 of the part 44c, around a horizontal transverse axis 51. Screws 52, perpendicular to the axis 51 and arranged symmetrically with respect thereto, are screwed into threads 53, formed in the part 44c and opening into the housing 46 where they abut against the part 50. They thus allow the user to block itself this part, after a precise adjustment of the position of the rod 45 as a function of the height of the prosthetic heel.

The invention therefore provides appreciable improvements which are easy to implement with prosthetic feet of the technique, with a view to ensuring their users increased comfort and easier walking.
