Abstract

The mirror for improving the visibility of a car driver comprises two mirrors which are inclined w.r.t one another at an angle of 45 to 120 degrees within a common housing. The housing is mounted near the front edge of the car bonnet and has two fields of vision (A,B) to the left and right of the car which the driver cannot see directly especially when emerging from a driveway between parked vehicles.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for improving the visibility of motorists.

Currently, when a motorist wishes to take his vehicle out of a garage, a parking area, or a courtyard by a narrow passage directly on a sidewalk along which are stored other vehicles, or on which circulate pedestrians, he is forced either to engage on the roadway the first half of his vehicle before even knowing if the lane is clear, hence the risk of an accident especially with two-wheelers, or to have recourse to a other person to guide him. He will experience the same difficulties at certain intersections of country roads where visibility is reduced or even nonexistent on the right and on the left with a sluice of plantations, walls, buildings or embankments.

The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. In fact, being intended to be placed in the middle and as far forward as possible of the front cover of an automobile, it is characterized by two rectangular mirrors arranged horizontally at approximately ninety degrees from each other allowing the user driver to discover the visual fields located on the right and left, in front of his vehicle, and thus to engage on the roadway only about forty centimeters from his car at most, or less depending on the types of bodywork.

FIG. 7 represents a front view of the device as it appears to the user.

Figure 2 is a side view.

Figure 3 shows this device seen from above.

FIG. 4 represents the device when it is implemented, that is to say fixed on a vehicle.

As shown in Figures 1, 2, and 3, the device according to the invention comprises a casing (I) of aerodynamic shape, having, towards the front of the vehicle on which it will be placed, no sharp edge. be bottier (1) supports two mirrors (2) forming between them a right angle. The assembly of the assembly on the front cover of a vehicle is ensured by a foot () articulated by a ball joint (4) with clamping screw (5) 1 and pierced with two holes (6) intended to receive two screws. The vertical adjustment is made thanks to a thread (7) of the upper part of the foot (3), to a nut (8) integral with the shoemaker (t), and to a lock nut (9). The horizontal and lateral adjustment is made using the ball joint (4). This assembly fixed on the front cover of an automobile according to FIG. 4 will allow the driver to discover the visual fields (A and B) while engaging only a small part of his vehicle.
