Abstract

The arm-chair, especially for handicapped and old people, consists of a seat (1) supported on legs (2,3,4). A back-rest (6) is joined to the seat and on each side of the seat is an arm-rest (7,8). The arm-rests are movable and are made up of an elbow-rest part (9,10) mounted eccentrically on uprights (11,12). The arm-rests can be moved along a plane parallel to the plane of the seat. The uprights each slide in a sleeve (13) and can be set at any height using locking screws (14).

ARMCHAIR
The present invention relates to armchairs, and more particularly armchairs intended to be used, but not exclusively, by the disabled or approved persons.

Armchairs are already known which essentially comprise a seat to which a backrest and two armrests are possibly associated.

There are even armchairs whose armrests are removably mounted to allow for example the disabled or approved people to be able to get out of the chair more easily.

However, such an armchair is not, a priori, made specifically for this or that person.

Indeed, there are people who are more or less strong, but in fact, the chairs are provided so that they can receive at least the strongest people.

 It is therefore understandable that, when a relatively thin person uses such an armchair, he is not perfectly supported by the backrest and the two armrests.

The aim of the present invention is to provide an armchair with a very simple structure which can adapt to people of large build as well as to slimmer people, and that all these people have the same comfort, it that is, they are relatively well held in the chair.

More specifically, the subject of the present invention is a chair comprising a seat supported by feet, possibly a backrest associated with this seat, and two removable armrests, arranged laterally of each block of the seat, characterized in that said removable armrests have, following a first plane, a significant asymmetry, and, following a second plane, perpendicular to the previous one, a symmetry.

Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear during the following description, given with reference to the appended drawing, by way of illustration but in no way limitative, in which the single figure represents an embodiment of an armchair according to the invention.

The chair shown in the single figure comprises a seat 1, mounted on four legs 2,3,4, the qua trime pied 5 ntapparatssant not in this figure.

In this seat 1, there is associated in known manner, a backrest 6.

Of each block of the seat 1, two armrests 7 and 8 are arranged, which are removable and essentially constituted by a part 9 and 10, substantially parallel to the seat 1 on which the user's elbows can bear, and respectively by two uprights 71 and 12 cooperating in slide in guides like 13.

These guides 13 are associated with locking means 14, making it possible to block each armrest 7 or 8 in the desired position. The two armrests 7 and 8 are formed so that they have, in a plane substantially perpendicular to the backrest 6, and passing through each upright 12, a marked asymmetry so that the two parts 9 and 10, on which the armrests rest, are offset from the two uprights 11 and 12.

On the other hand, these two armrests exhibit symmetry in a plane perpendicular to the previous one, that is to say to a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the backrest and passing through the two uprights Il and 12.

Due to this structure, the two armrests 7 and 8 can therefore take, in their respective slide 13, two positions which are shown in the figure, one in solid lines, for strong people, and the other in dotted lines. for thinner people.

In fact, when these two armrests are positioned as shown in solid lines, the two parts and 10 on which the elbows rest are turned outwards relative to the two uprights 11 and 12 and to seat 1.

Therefore, the distance between the two armrests is relatively large and therefore allows to receive strong people.

On the other hand, when the two armrests are turned over and occupy positions as shown in dotted lines, the two parts 9 and 70, capable of receiving the elbows, are turned inwards, that is to say towards the seat 1 relative to the two uprights 11 and 12.

Therefore, the distance separating these two parts 9 and 10 is much shorter than that separating these two parts when they are in the previously defined position. This arrangement makes it possible to receive thin people who will also be retained by the armrests since they are relatively close to one another.

Finally, it is obvious that the present invention applies both to static wheelchairs and to wheelchairs able to be moved, such as for example wheelchairs.
