Abstract

The WC bowl has a switch coupled to the lid, so that raising of the lid operates the magnetically or pneumatically actuated switch. The switch controls one or more electrically actuated devices, ranging from odour extractors and bowl rinsing devices to radio receivers or tape cassette players. The switch (3) is fitted near the rear of the bowl (1) and a magnet (4) is fitted to the lid. Alternatively, a pneumatic sensor may be placed under the seat to actuate the electrical contacts.
