Abstract
Separator for gas borne dusts in high velocity gas streams has four zones. IT has a profiled body mounted in a circular housing. This creates a diverging annular passage and gives a radial motion to particles in the gas stream which impinge against the body. Towards the end of the annular passage are a set of flights to impart a tangential motion. The now spiralling stream is accelerated past a converging section into a sharply diverging section where it slows down again. The particles are held along the outer wall by centrifugal action and are extracted while clean gas flows from the centre. For use in internal combustion engines, diesel engines, jet engines, turbines, etc. which need a supply of clean air or other gas. High efficiency and low pressure drop are obtd.
