Abstract

The release unit comprises two pairs of weights (3), each pair being fixed to an arm. The centre point of this arm has a spur gear, forming a pivot and meshing with a double pinion gear (2). One set is positioned each side of a rack (1), retained by a spring. The smaller gear of each double pinion meshes with gear teeth each side of the rack and, when this latter is pulled continually rotates the gearing against the inertia of the weights until the unit is released. A short pull has no effect.

L'idée-mère de cete invention réside en trois points prin -cipaux:
-- lors d'un choc léger ou moyen et bref,le système assure une entière sécurité (1er cas)
-- lors d'un choc très violent mais de durée plus longue le système maintient l'usager pendant le choc et le libère de sa ceinture après (2ème cas)
-- lorsqu'il y a successions de tractions dues à des"tonneaux", le système compensatoire de rappel de la crémaillère assu -re la fermeture pendant cette phase. Si l'usager se trouve en position anormale et exerce une traction continue sur sa ceinture alors qu'il lui est impossible d'en atteindre l'ouverture manuelle le système s'ouvre de lui même et le libère (3ème cas)
Cet ensemble possède un rappel,engrenages-masselottes,par ressorts,en position de repos qui permet la tension constante de la ceinture en compensant les courts mouvements de translation qui peuvent ê tre appliqués à la crémaillère et qui n'ont pas motivé son éjection.
