Abstract
The mooring system has a winch with a drum driven by a polyphase motor supplied from a static converter consisting of a static inverter and a rectifier. The motor's speed is monitored, eg. by a tachometer, and used to control the static inverter in order to change the motor's excitation. The monitor's output is connected to a detector designed so that the polarity of the signal from the monitor is preserved despite changes in the direction of rotation of the monitor as a result of a switch and parallel circuit path containing an inverting amplifier coupled into the actual speed feedback path.
