Abstract
The exchanger has a casing (4) which is built into an outer wall of the building. It has an inlet (6) and discharge for extract air, and an inlet (16) for fresh air from outside with a discharge (7) into the building for this. The two streams flow through a heat exchanger block (10) in which they exchange heat without mixing with each other. The flow out of extract air is maintained by a fan (19) driven by a motor (20) which is controlled by a pressure operated switch (22). This ensures that the fan maintains the building at a slight underpressure so that air flows in by natural draught. A water spray (30) can be incorporated for cooling in summer.
