Abstract

The smoke grenade is for launching by a firearm, e.g. using a cartridge or a bullet where it has a bullet trap, and its charge consists of two or more smoke-generating ingredients, one liquid and the other solid. On impact the first ingredient instantly emits an opaque cloud immediately masking the target, while the other also produces an opaque cloud, but one which is more durable, so as to prolong the effect. The ingredients can be mounted in successive chambers destroyed by charges along the grenade axis and ignited one after the other. The chambers can be in the form of envelopes connected together and to the nose cone and fuse.
