Abstract

A light source is modified for use in medical therapy working along acupuncture theory lines. A point of light is formed whose diameter is greater than 1 mm. It is delivered in an intermittent pulsating manner on the surface of the area to be treated. The illuminator may be in the form of a long strike laser with a light loading of about 2mW. A motor driven shutter produces the pulsated light beam at a frequency of some 2-20 Hz.
