Abstract
The paravane (5a) is towed by a surface vessel (1) from a cable (3). The paravane is equipped with hydrofoils (6) which guide it to a certain pre-determined depth. The front of the paravane is equipped with a spool (11a). The spool carries a cable (9a) which unwinds to the front. The paravane (5a) is towed by a second paravane (10a). This is fitted with a stern rudder so that its direction and the direction of the main paravane (5a) may be altered relative to the surface vessel.
