Abstract

The combined water heating system has a hot water tank connected to a solar heating panel and incorporating an auxiliary source of heat immersed in the water in the tank. The water is circulated around the heating panel and the tank, and the same water is discharged from the tank for use. This auxiliary source of heat is a mass of a suitable organic salt whose fusion point is between 50 deg. and 75 deg.C. When a large amount of water is drawn off, lowering the temperature, the latent heat of the mass is transferred to the water at this temperature. An immersion heater may also be used with the tank. The system may be used without a solar heating panel, but with an immersion heater.
