Abstract
An instantaneous water heater (5) is mounted next to a hot water cylinder (1). The cold feed (2) enters the cylinder and has a branch (6) to the heater. There is a pump (11) in this branch. The outlet (7) of the heater is connected to the outlet (4) of the cylinder and both outlets (7, 4) supply the draw off points (3). A flow valve (9) in the cold feed starts the pump if there is a heavy draw off. Both heater and cylinder then supply the demand. At low draw offs only the cylinder supplies the hot water. A thermostat (12) also starts the pump to maintain the temperature in the cylinder.
