Abstract

Racemic and optically active forms of the thioazolidine derivs. of formula (I). In (I) R is 1-6C alkyl, naphthyl or phenyl opt. substd. by 1-3 halogens atoms, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or CF3 gps. A typical cpd. is 2-(alpha-methyl benzylimino) thiazolidine m.pt. 144-145.5 degrees C. In an example this was prepd. by a refluxing 26.2g 2-methylthio thiazoline hydroiodide with 13.3g dl alpha-methyl benzylamine in amyl alcohol.
