Abstract

The multiple connector consists of a long rectangular insulating housing (1) contg. contact cavities (4) distributed along it and a cover plate (2) that locates on its top surface. Contact pins or tags (5, 6) project down from below the housing. The two sides (10, 11) of the housing and the cover have rows of holes to admit the contact pins of a plug into the contact cavities. The plug can therefore be inserted in any one of three directions. Each contact cavity contains a U-shaped contact whose arms extend out to form the projecting pins or tags and whose spine is slotted to accept a plug pin inserted from any one of three directions.
