Abstract

A movable equipment is used to measure the tracking angles of the wheels of a road vehicle. The first part (E1) of the equipment and the second part (E2) have plates (2, 3 and 64, 65) which are placed in contact with the tyres of the wheels (R1, R2) whose tracking angles are to be checked. The plates (2, 3 and 64, 65) are fitted to frames (11, 70) installed facing the wheels (R1, R2). One (11) of the frames (11, 70) has a casing (1) which has at one end (13) an electric bulb, a mirror and a lens to project a beam of light onto a plane mirror (72). The plane mirror (72) is mounted onto a casing (71) carried by the frame (70). The deviation (alpha 2) of the light beam due to a horizontal tracking angle (alpha 1) is measured by a mirror in the casing (1) of the first part (E1) of the equipment. The vertical tracking angle may also be checked by the equipment.
