Abstract

The cyclist's shoe has a plastic e.g. nylon sole with inverted 'T' section grooves for the bolted reception of a pedal key plate. The grooves are elongated but contained by the underside sole face, adn the key-plate interlocks with the pedal to give a positive connection between the shoe and the pedal. The elongated grooves enable the position of the key-plate to be adjusted. Three grooves may be deployed with two parallel and opposite one another relative to the long shoe axis. The third groove trails the former two and aligns transversely in the sole. The key-plate may have two holes corresponding to the forward grooves and a lengthwise slot corresponding to the third groove. Bolts with enlarge socketed heads and engaging groove-located inverted 'T' shaped nuts may be used to anchor the key-plate.
