Abstract

A tyre and rim have tread, sidewalls and reinforcing beads, two seatings for the beads, radial bead flanges and a bulge on the rim which extends axially inwards from at least one of the bead seatings. The rim has a pair of annular extra support areas which extend axially outwards from the outer radial edges of the bead-holding flanges, the bottom of each sideall has a reinforced counter support element whose radially inner surface is in contact with the extra support area of the rim. Construction provides considerably greater resistance to tilting or displacement in case of sudden pressure drop and hence a greater effectiveness of the bulge on the rim.
