Abstract

Appts. controlled from the surface, for drilling >=1 lateral hole at a pre-determined depth in a previously drilled main borehole and with a pre-determined orientation with respect to this, comprising an elongated rigid element, to which is fixed >=1 rigid elongated pipe open at both ends, the lower end of which is curved and has a pre-determined orientation relative to that of the pipe; >=1 drilling device guided by the rigid pipe and comprising >=1 hollow drilling roll driven rotatably from the surface and means for connecting the drilling rod to an elongated flexible element and for connecting this to a drilling tool. The drill is used for seismic prospecting, the orientation of the laterally drilled holes must be known and several such holes in the same plane may be necessary, which cannot be produced by the known technique.
