Abstract

A continuous textile web which has been liq. treated passes through a drying chamber where hot air jets are directed onto the web from nozzles arranged below and pref. above it, the air is extracted through exhaust ducts interspersed with the nozzles. Pivotal flap valves are provided to adjust the cross-section of the inlet of the exhaust ducts and to define a flow chamber in which layers of press. air can be maintained between the web and the nozzles and outlet ducts to prevent contact between the web and the nozzles and outlet ducts. Pref. the edges of the webs are advanced by parallel feed chains, and slideable side flaps are arranged adjacent the chains to form a seal at the side of the flow chamber. Damage to web by contacting the nozzles or exhaust ducts is prevented.
