Abstract

Seal comprises an annular flexible collar clamped to a rotating shaft and bearing against a rigid face or counter collar provided on an adjacent stationary housing for e.g. a support bearing. The collar pref. has an annular flange with a circular rib coaxial with the shaft and turning in a track provided in the opposing stationary face of the seal. The collar material is pref. an elastomer resistant to service conditions involving e.g. water, oil, petrol, acids or abrasive grit. The stationary face may be of e.g. metal ceramic or nylon.
