Abstract

Laminated material consists of a web (which may be of woven or non-woven, natural or synthetic fibres) and a hydrophilic, three-dimensionally crosslinked poly-urethane. The polyurethane consists of the reaction prod. of (a) a resin component consisting of a polyoxyethylene polyol terminally substd. or capped by isocyanate gps. and having a reaction functionality of >2 with (b) an aq. reaction component (molar proportion H2O:NCO groups ca 6.5:1 to ca 390:1) and optionally, (c) a crosslinking agent having a reaction functionality of >2 (in which case the reaction functionality of the polyol may be equal to about 2). The polyurethane coating material has improved props. such as comfort, control of moisture transmission, heat- and solvent-resistance, ease of working and (when contg. selected additives) flame retardant props., sound-deadening properties and other selected properties. The laminates may be used e.g. for binding, insulation, sepn., absorption, decoration or cushioning purposes and may be used in the prodn. of items of clothing.
