Abstract

The device to lift arrays of jars includes a layer of compressible material (6) through which suction is applied to the jars, the layer having holes corresponding to the positions of the jars. There are also the necessary blower and ducting (4, 7) to apply the suction. The compressible layer is mounted in grooves so that it can be slipped out to be replaced as necessary. There are also suitable means of fixing the layer in place and sealing it to its support. The compressible layer (6) consists of a very thin layer of sheet steel, covered with a thick layer (12) of expanded polyurethane foam.
