Abstract

The hose is pulled over the union nipple, and the joint made by a ring previously stretched over the nipple. The latter can have a trapezium-section annular external groove with an inclined face at between 5 and 15 deg. towards the end of the nipple. The ring is conical internally, with two cylindrical portions, the conical portion being at the same angle as the groove side. The ring can be arranged to protrude up to 10mm past the nipple in the assembled state, its minimum internal diameter being greater than the external nipple diameter, and less than this value plus twice the hose wall thickness.
