Abstract

In vehicles with chassis members made of plastics material the batteries may be mounted in compartments in the chassis members. These compartments are of large section, square or rectangular in cross section and can be divided up by partitions. The plastics materials are not attached by the battery acid, so that the battery plates may be placed directly in the compartments and the acid may be poured in without the need for separate battery casings. Wastage of space and the excessive weight of the normal battery installation is avoided, while the large section of the compartments gives high mechanical strength with low weight.
