Abstract

Composite lenses incorporating a central disc surrounded by two concentric annula zones made substantially of rigid plastic material but connected by regions of optically neutral but flexible material which allow the radius of curvature of the lens to be altered by relative axial deflection. For mfr. of 'soft' contact lenses which can adapt to changes in the configuration or the optical performance of the supporting eyeball. The predominantly rigid, non absorbent lenses, are not sensitive to the degree of nature of local moisture, yet are almost as adaptable as conventional soft lenses.
