Abstract

The drive shaft (1) has a rigidly attached sun wheel (2) which meshes with a planet wheel (4) mounted on a spindle (5) carried by a cage (8). The pinion (4) meshes with an outer wheel (15) which can be rotated by the worm (18). The other end of the spindle (15) carries a planet wheel (9) which meshes with the fixed outer wheel (16) and the rotatable sun wheel (13) which drives the output flange (14). When the worm wheel (18) is held fixed, the output flange (14) rotates at the same speed as the driving shaft (1). Rotating the worm (18) rotates the wheel (15) which causes the flange (14) to run either faster or slower so creating a phase difference between flange (14) and shaft (1).
