Abstract

The catheter tube in silicone elastomer is insufficiently rigid to be pushed into a vein and has a mandrel of a deformable plastics material pref. Delrin, which is sufficiently rigid to be pushed into vein, and fits into the catheter tube. It does not bind with the latter due to an irregular surface film which is obtd. by deposn. of Teflon particles from an aerosol.
