Abstract

In a continuous microbiological process for the simultaneous prodn. of a deparaffinated petroleum distillate and a microorganism biomass by aerobic fermentation of a paraffin-contg. petroleum distillate (or crude oil) in the presence of an aqs. mineral culture medium and a microorganism culture and sepn. of the partially deparaffinated petroleum distillate and biomass, the partially deparaffinated distillate is re-feremented in the presence of fresh culture medium and a fresh culture of microorganisms (opt. different from the 1st) and again sepd., the process being repeated until deparaffination is complete. High space-time yields of biomass/unit of petroleum prod. are obtd.
