Abstract

Heat sealable plastic film with good resistance to a decrease in the heat seal strength esp. under moist conditions, and good barrier props. against gases and vapours, esp. O2 consists of (I) a base film of a thermoplastic resin, pref. polypropylene or polyester, which is pref. biaxially drawn, (II) an inter. layer of 0.1-3 mu thick of a copolymer contg. >50 esp. 80 wt.% vinylidene chloride and also acrylonitrile, (meth)acrylic acid, itaconic acid, or an alkyl (meth)acrylate and opt. cpds. improving film-forming and (III) a heat sealable layer 0.1 mu thick, of PVC, PVAc or vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer.
