Abstract

Novel title cpds are of formula (I): (R=NH2 or OH; R1 and R2=H or NO2; R3=NO2) and are prepd by reacting corresp. purine nucleoside with fuming HNO3 opt. mixed with acetic anhydride, pref. at between -70 degrees C and room temp. (I) are useful in treatment of cardiac insufficiency and also in purine nucleoside chemistry since the NO2 gps are relatively stable acids and bases but easily removed by hydrogenolysis.
