Abstract

Decorations have pieces of a broken material completely or partly dispersed in a layer of transparent thermosetting material, the broken material being transparent or translucid and of glass or resin. The matrix resin may be introduced as differing colours in separate regions or to different depths surrounding the fragmentary filler. The matrix layer may be covered with a decorated transparent film which may be enveloped by a further layer of matrix resin. Dished vessels or bodies comprising a surface of revolution may be coated with resin clad fragments laid up by rotational casting under conditions which do not promote separation of the components; the matrix resin may be partly pre-gelled to inhibit flow. Pref. the matrix resin is polyester based.
