Abstract

Compressed gas, in particular compressed air, is purified by draining off condensate and residual oil after chilling the gas in a refrigerated heat exchanger, after which the purified gas is re-warmed. Basically the cooling and re-warming heat exchangewrs, together with the condensate separator, are built into a single chamber without using any interconnecting pipework, the gas flow being achieved simply by partitions and baffles within the vessel. The vessel is easy and cheap to manufacture, simple to install and requires very little maintenance.
