Abstract
Burning of powdered or fine grain materials such as limestone is carried out by equipment consisting of a preheater, a burning unit and a cooling device, in such manner that a pneumatic pipeline coming from the cooler enters tangentially into the low cylindrical part of a cone-shaped cyclonic device, the cylindrical part having below it a cone shaped area finishing into a funnel from which the burnt substance is fed into the cooler and the hot gases into the preheater, whereas the pneumatic pipeline is connected with the preheater. This arrangement provides a method of accelerated burning in that the gas rotating in the cyclonic device carries the larger particles nearer the periphery in which they are more intensively heated than the smaller particles, also carried by the rotating hot gas, resulting in a more homogeneous burning of the material.
