Abstract
In a system for conveying charges of fissile material between working stations, a horizontal carrier chain runs in a sealed trunking which has a tee-junction into a vertical branch down to each station; the chain can be stopped to position a charge above any of the vertical branches and meas are provided to raise and lower the charge in a branch between the trunking and the station. The brach should be about 3 metres long and the system may be filled with helium. A 24 volt electrical system is recommended system remains safe even when a charge passes a loaded station. Rapid handling because safety locks eliminated.
