Abstract

In a process for finishing cellulosic textiles by continuous application to the dry textile of (partial) treatment liquids, which contain at least one finishing agent which reacts with the cellulose, followed by (partial) drying of the textile, the amount of treatment fluid applied is such that the total percentage uptake, together with the moisture present in the textile, is at most W2/150 + 40 related to the weight of the dry textile; (where W is the percentage water retention capacity of the textile, determined according to SNV 98'5'92.) The amoun of treatment liquid needed is reduced. The feel of the textile is improved. If the textile is dyed at the same time, the migration of the dye during drying is lowered, so that migration-retarders can be used in smaller amounts or even omitted
