Abstract

The invention concerns a method for measurement and control of the quality of paper coating. In the first version of the invention photographs of the coating are taken, which are digitized 20, the digital signal D(t) is processed with expert system 21 and image analysis system 22. The signals P(t) developed in the aforementioned system are sent to a drive connection and/or display device 24. The system is programmed to display correction proposals for quality errors based on the cause-effect relation of quality anomalies recorded in the expert system. In the second version of the invention a narrow light beam L1 is directed toward the coating, the light beam L2 reflected from the web W is detected with receiving devices 12 and the measurement signals U(t) fed to a signal processor 20a from which a signal u(t) is fed to the aforementioned expert system 21. <IMAGE>
