Abstract

The invention comprises a series of single pole electrochemical cells (with the corresponding electrolysis process) with two end cell units and at least one intermediate cell unit located between the said end units, the said intermediate cell unit comprising a wall of flat electrode components separated by a certain distance from each other, and means for distributing electrical power to each of the said electrode components, the said distributor means comprising flat, electrically conducting and substantially rigid means for the transmission of electric current located between the said separate electrode components, the said mechanical transmission element electrically connected to each one of the said electrode components at a plurality of points distributed at a certain spacing over the surface of each one of the said electrode components, in which the said transmission element has a plurality of substantially solid protuberances distributed over its two bolted surfaces and which project by a predetermined distance beyond the transmission element to enter an electrolytic chamber adjacent to the transmission element, the said protuberances being capable of being connected, either directly or indirectly to the electrode component, mechanically and electrically, and electrical connection means fixed to the said transmission element to conduct an electric current which enters into or leaves the said transmission element.
