Abstract
Suspension of liquid, papermaking fibres and undesirable reject particles is fed to the inlet side of a cylindrical screen. The screen includes a number of slots which extend substantially circumferentially, the slots having their narrowest portion between 0.008 and 0.030 inch in width. A field of high intensity fine scale turbulence is generated immediately adjacent the inlet side of the screen. Rejects which are too large to pass through the screen slots are removed. - The appts. is used to screen papermaking stock to remove contaminant particles. It is partic. useful in the screening of waste paper stock ahead of the head box for removal of plastic sheet and film.
