Abstract

1-Phenoxy-3-aminopropan-2-ols of formula (I) are new together with their acid-addn. salts (where C=Y is -CH2-CHOH- or -CO- R1 is H halo, alkoxy or allyl R2 is H or 1-4C alkyl R3 is 1-4C alkyl or cyclopropyl R is 1-4C alkyl, cyclopropyl, cyclopropylmethyl or opt. substd. beta-arylethyl). The cpds. are beta-adrenolytic agents with no depressant activity. A typical cpd., 1- 4-(3-cyclopropyl)propyl phenoxy-3-isopropylaminopropan-2-ol, was prepd. by reaction of isopropylamine with 1- 4-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)phenyl -3-cyclopropylpropane.
